Animal lovers --the Fairfax County Animal Shelter (FCAS) invites you to donate needed supplies (leashes, collars, cages, chew toys, towels) for their newly renovated and expanded facility on W. Ox Road. You can also purchase comfy new beds for shelter dogs and cats (and hammocks for reptiles) from their Amazon Wish List.
Greeters, groomers, walkers, and gardeners are some of the volunteer opportunities. Groups of adults or teens can help with monthly special events at the shelter or in the community.
Seniors (age 55+) interested in fostering, adopting, or volunteering are invited to visit on Wednesdays when adopted animals will be spayed or neutered at no charge.
Kaiser Permanente, a medical care provider organization, offers free health care services to qualified children living in Fairfax County and the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church. They continue to work to improve the health care of the children of Fairfax. In addition to the 1400 children that Kaiser is serving, in early 2013 they offered 300 more slots of free health care services. Know a child in need? Refer them and see if they qualify for free medical care.
Locally their doctors, nurses and staff participated in MLK's day of service volunteering at the Annandale community health fair. They called it a "Day On" for service. These volunteers showed their commitment to the Kaiser mission and honored Dr. King's legacy of service.
Kaiser has demonstrated through its actions that it truly cares about the people of Fairfax. We salute them for their continued commitment to caring for people's health.
