It may be a new year, but many people continue to go hungry in our community. For many local, nonprofit food pantries donations drop to one of the lowest points.  To help address this need, Fairfax County is promoting “Stuff the Bus: Feeding Fairfax Families”. This collaborative program, in its third year, is a partnership among Fairfax County Government, local grocery stores and nonprofits to restock the shelves.

From Jan. 21, the Martin Luther King Day of Service until President’s Day, Feb. 18., a FASTRAN Bus will travel to different Giant, Walmart and Shoppers food and Pharmacy locations in Fairfax County to collect donations of food for local pantries. All donations directly benefit local nonprofit organizations that help feed families and individuals in need in the Fairfax-Falls Church Community. Last year, with the cooperation between FASTRAN, MV Transportation, volunteers, and community members, the 11 events collected more than 25,000lbs of food.
